A Contest and an Amazing Prize

I was on my way home from work and listening to my ipod in my car. It had been on the same playlist for about forever! I decided I couldn't listen to Duffy or Sara Barreilles one more time. I needed something different, something I love, something I could really sing to, really belt out. Of course, I needed ......Celine Dion.
Now I know many of you are concerned about this and quite possibly some of you may have thrown up in your mouth. Here is my confession. I love Celine Dion music. I rarely listen to it anymore but anytime I do I am reminded about how much I love her. So Celine it was and I cranked it up and sang along very loudly and happily and with lots of drama. She has some awesome songs to just sing-a-long to.

So while singing along to "All by myself" I started to think about the movie Bridget Jones Diary (yes, I watched it on tv edited). Aren't you amazed that I at this point I am doing three things at once -- driving, singing, and thinking. Anyways, at the begining of the movie Bridget is sitting in her living room watching tv and she just starts to belt out the very same song  along with the tube and uses her remote as a microphone. Its so funny. (little known fact: in the movie it is not Celine Dion singing it is Jamie O'neal). Now stay with me here....this got me to thinking of great sing-along moments in movies. You know what I'm talking about. Where a character is lip syncing or just a great musical moment (no I'm not referring to High School Musical!). So after Bridget Jones my thoughts went to none other than Ferris Beuller. I totally want to be him on the Parade float with the entire city singing along with me. How cool was that? Another favorite...About a Boy. It is so cool when Hugh Grant goes out on stage and saves his little friend from the most embarrassing moment ever singing "Killing Me Softly With His Song". He even sings with his eyes closed. Finally Bohemian Rhapsody in Waynes World. I love Queen and well, Wayne and Garth, they are hysterical. I do want to give a big shout out to Jack Black in School of Rock as well. (hey click on the green ones for video of what I'm talking about).

I have had some  experience personally with public singing although I don't know that they were great sing-along moments ......

First impersonating another personal favorite  Abba - the crowd really loved singing-along to Waterloo.
Next an original group .... The Dixie Hicks

The next two gigs were more in the line of Singing Telegrams.....

Now here is the contest. I am not going to ask you to do any public singing.  I want to hear from you what your favorite sing-along music in the car is and your favorite music moment in the movies. Really I do. I don't want you to be shy about it either after all I bore my soul to you and confessed about Celine.

The prize.....I will mail to the winner a homemade CD of my five favorite Celine Dion sing-a-long songs. I am dead serious. Now lest you not make a comment for fear of winning the prize let me say I will include a top secret prize along with it that everyone will want. Please remember that the more comments I get the less likely you are to win. So COMMENT.   I will do a random drawing for the winner.  This contest ends whenever I feel like it.

Is it really January 18th?

Hi to all my friends who follow my blog. I have taken a huge break from my blog and now I think I'm back. I want to just do a little recap of our holidays. Not so much that you care but it gives me a chance to re-live it! So here goes.

First our family was here for Christmas.... meaning, Sean and Stacy and Katey. It was so fun to have a full house again. I know I posted about the HoHo Parade. We also decided to take the kids to see the Christmas lights. We were sure Stacey had probably never seen anything like it. We were right. Ken thought we could just drive down the street so he wore his pajamas, overcoat (from his mission) and his Croc's. Oops! He had to get out and walk but there were enough crazy people that it didn't matter. The real interesting part was when we got home the Jones family had stopped by to Christmas Carol. They got to see in his snazzy get up. In fact he just joined their family in the singing so they wouldn't sound so absolutely perfect. Here are some of the Pics:

Ok that was a fun little trip down Memory Lane. Next Christmas. Santa was good to all of us and we had a peaceful, fun day. Some new toys. Some bigger than others. Kens Big! Seans little! I got a new lens. Here you can see I need practice because Sean is in focus, Stacey is not in focus. Danielle got a dog---finally. It is the best little dog ever. Katey spent the day giving us great poses and fashion shows The highlight of our Christmas day of course was our phone call from Natalie. It was so wonderful to talk to her. We miss her and are really counting down the days until she comes home.
This is what she said they do in Argentina for christmas. At midnight on Christmas eve it sounds like a war zone because the entire city is setting off fireworks. I guess it makes sense since it is hot and summer and a lot less expensive than piling a bunch of gifts under a tree. These Argentinians might be on to something.
Now of course I you all know we couldn't possibly get through the Christmas vacation without some time spent sailing. Unfortunately we didn't have much wind. But a good harbor cruise is also good for the soul. Stacey's family was in San Diego for the New Year so we took them out and really enjoyed their company. They are a fun family and all have a great sense of humor. There was a "What About Bob Moment" and there was some bird feeding going on.

It was chilly out so we made sure that we were prepared with our warm clothing. Here Sean and I are modeling some items that we both wore in the 90's. How cool are we?
Finally, Last night we (Ken, Katey, and I and our friend Kyle) stopped in for a race or two at Angel stadium. The Supercross races were in town. Good racing, great people watching. Katey is all about the laser show and big fire. Ken is all about the racing. Well that's it folks. Aren't you glad that you have a secret password to get into this blog. I know this was so edifying and gratifying and stimulating to read about my last month. Thanks for stopping by and just remember it can only get better.

Moonstruck

"When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie thats Amore" Wow the moon was hitting my eye big time tonight. Thanks to my friend Lori who called to tell me, I got an eyeful. She also gave me some tips on getting a photo. I tried them and this is what I got. Not bad considering the wind was gusting at 50 mph.

So this also makes me think of one of my favorite movies ever.
Yup, Moonstruck. Maybe I should watch it in honor of that big bright moon. It is Cher at her best. She isn't my favorite but she is beautiful in this film. And as for Nicholas Cage as Ronny, what can I say, I love his character, his lines, his missing hand. His romantic lines like this one:

(the following lines are rated PG-13)

Ronny Cammareri: Everything seems like nothing to me now, 'cause I want you in my bed. I don't care if I burn in hell. I don't care if you burn in hell. The past and the future is a joke to me now. I see that they're nothing. I see they ain't here. The only thing that's here is you - and me.

Or how about this one - (also rated PG-13)

Ronny Cammareri: Loretta, I love you. Not like they told you love is, and I didn't know this either, but love don't make things nice - it ruins everything. It breaks your heart. It makes things a mess. We aren't here to make things perfect. The snowflakes are perfect. The stars are perfect. Not us. Not us! We are here to ruin ourselves and to break our hearts and love the wrong people and *die*. The storybooks are *bullshit*. Now I want you to come upstairs with me and *get* in my bed!

Wow I guess he wanted her in his bed. Anyways a great love story. And just once in my life I would love to have long black beautiful hair like Cher does in the flick.

OK so now that the few of you who have access to my private blog have read this entry you are probably never coming back again. I am sorry if it has been to weird, or in anyway offensive. What can I say.....When the moon hits your eye! And with all that I am off to ruin myself on love and spend some time with my man.

Going Private

Ok, I know I did this once before without any warning so this time I am giving warning. I have decided to go permanently private with my blog. Why? Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah ! You know all the typical reasons and maybe one or two more. If you were registered on my blog before you will still be registered. If you are new to my blog then make a comment here and I will add you. To those of you who lurk I promise that if you request an invitation I will forget I ever saw it or that you have ever looked at my blog. I will destroy all evidence of your request and you may continue to lurk after you sign in. To strangers and the strange --- So Long!

I realize that blogging is perhaps a very narcissistic thing to do so some of you may be glad that this thing is private and you won't have to accidentally stumble upon it and see all the blabbering about me, my family, my hobbies, etc. That being said I actually started the blog in hopes of keeping in touch with some family and letting them know what we are up to around here. (Hello family, are you out there?) It has been my own little creative outlet and will continue to be. Who knows maybe I am talking to myself 99% of the time anyways.

See you all on the other side of the sign in.
